Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly criticised JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman's irresponsible statement, describing it as an insult to the sacrifices of the martyrs.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Defence Minister expressed his disapproval in a post on X handle, emphasizing that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, as a seasoned politician and a respected religious leader, is expected to choose his words with greater responsibility. The Defence Minister remarked that linking the sacrifices of soldiers to their salaries is not only unfair but also deeply wounds the sentiments of the martyrs and their families.

He further added that no one sacrifices their life merely for a salary. The act of sacrificing life is driven by ideology, faith, a sense of duty, and a profound devotion to the homeland. The Defence Minister also highlighted that the war against terrorism is ongoing, and personnel of the Armed Forces, along with other institutions and civilians, continue to embrace martyrdom.
