First death anniversary of renowned playwright, actor and academic Shoaib Hashmi was observed on Wednesday.
Hashmi received his Master of Arts degree in economics from Government College Lahore and his MSc. degree from London School of Economics.
He also studied theater at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London.
Hashmi was married to Salima Hashmi, the daughter of noted Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
He is remembered for his TV productions Akkar Bakkar, Sach Gup, Taal Matol and Balila. He is recipient of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and President’s Award for Pride of Performance.
Hashmi died on this day in Lahore in 2023 at the age of 84.
