Court told PTI chief confined in Attock Jail not due to security reason

ISLAMABAD: The Punjab government has told the Islamabad High Court that it put PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Attock Jail not due to security reasons. IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Friday heard a petition filed on behalf of the incarcerated PTI chairman seeking his transfer from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. During the previous hearing, the court sought a reply from the Punjab administration in this regard. In the petition, the court was requested to declare the PTI chairman’s incarceration in Attock Jail against the law.

The petitioner also sought permission to allow his family, lawyer, and personal physician Dr. Faisal Sultan to meet him in the jail. During today’s hearing, the additional attorney general submitted a letter by the Punjab government to the court, explaining the reason why the PTI chairman was kept in Attock Jail instead of Adiala Jail as ordered by the trial court in its verdict. The AAG told the court that the PTI chairman was not shifted to Attock Jail due to security reasons.
