RAWALPINDI: A court on Monday permitted the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Rawalpindi Circle to investigate former federal information minister Fawad Chaudhry in Adiala jail.
A day earlier, the ACE booked Fawad Chaudhry, his cousin, and others in a case about allegedly taking bribes and misuse of authority.
Judge Yasir Mehmood heard the plea of ACE Rawalpindi for permission to include Fawad Chaudhry in the investigation.
The court, after hearing the arguments, granted the provincial anti-corruption watchdog to probe Fawad Chaudhry in Adiala Jail.
The investigating officer and deputy director Rawalpindi appeared before the court with records. Case No. 23/23 has been registered against him by the ACE Rawalpindi.
Accused Fawad Chaudhry is already on judicial remand in the case registered at Abpara police station.
The former PTI leader, Fawad Ch is allegedly involved in taking millions of rupees in bribes and misuse of authority for the grant of a no-objection certificate (NOC) and public land acquisition for the establishment of a private housing society in the Dina area of GT Road.
Meanwhile, a session court extended the interim bail of Fawad Chaudhry in violation of the section 144 case.
Additional and Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Supra heard the case of the former minister in the session court.
The court approved the exemption from the court request of Fawad Chaudhry and extended his interim bail till December 12, 2023.
Meanwhile, the next hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on December 12.
