Cotton prices in Pakistan continue to decline

Cotton prices in Pakistan continue to decline with the onset of colder weather.

According to Cotton Ginners Forum Chairman Ehsan-ul-Haq, local market prices have dropped by Rs300 per maund, bringing the price to Rs17,700 per maund, while Balochi cotton is available at Rs18,000 per maund.

Mr Haq stated that the primary reason for this decline is the rising trend in imports, which has put pressure on the local market. However, with an upward trend in international markets, there is a possibility that cotton prices in Pakistan may also rise again.

This situation is critical for the cotton industry, and it is essential for the government to consider effective policymaking that safeguards the interests of local farmers and traders.
