KARACHI:,,, Mansoor Ahmed Sheikh, the chairman of the town, said on Sunday that Saddar Town, which has the most important business and commercial centres of Karachi, is one of the densely populated towns of the city, where millions of people come daily for their employment, business and life affairs, due to which the problems here are more common than other towns.

According to a statement, there are more than the number of encroachments, the top of them is the problem of encroachment, due to which the people, especially the residents and women and children, have to face severe problems in transportation, while the flow of traffic is also affected.

A coordinated and comprehensive policy has been formulated under which encroachments will be phased out from different areas. Special instructions have been issued to the Land Department for this special campaign.

Addressing the meeting held in this regard, Vice Chairman UC4 and Chairman Anti-Encroachment Committee Saddar Town Abdul Rahman Afridi, Director Anti-Encroachment Wazir Ali Bhim and other officers were also present on this occasion while instructing the Director Anti-Encroachment Chairman Mansoor Ahmad Sheikh said that indiscriminate action should be taken against the encroachments and no consideration should be given to any kind of repercussions in this regard and legal action should be taken without discrimination against the intruders.

The concerned officers should speed up the recovery of generator fees and fines for illegal night sitting. In this regard, the officers who perform better will be given incentives, while departmental action will be taken in case of failure to achieve the set target of recovery.

Chairman Saddar Town has on this occasion warned the shopkeepers who have installed excessive sunshades, illegal signboards and billboards outside their shops to remove these encroachments on their own.
