Comprehensive National Wheat Policy Introduced by Minister Tanveer

Lahore:Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has commended the nation’s farmers for achieving an impressive wheat yield of seventy maunds per acre, which he described as a significant accomplishment for the agricultural sector.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister made these remarks during the 'Sarsabz Ki Jeet' event organized by Fatima Fertilizer in Lahore, which was held to honor high-performing wheat farmers for their achievements.

The Minister emphasized that the increased productivity per acre would not only enhance national food security but also create opportunities for exporting wheat, thereby earning valuable foreign exchange. He highlighted that government priorities include boosting per-acre productivity, reducing production costs, improving farmers' incomes, and strengthening national food security.

Rana Tanveer Hussain announced the introduction of a comprehensive National Wheat Policy. This policy proposes a wheat support price of 4,500 rupees per maund and includes a strategy to maintain strategic reserves of up to six million metric tonnes to meet national requirements.
