Cold spell, light rain expected in northern Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) informed on Friday that continental air continues to prevail across most parts of the country while a shallow westerly wave is forecasted to impact northern regions by evening or night.

Friday Weather: Cold and dry conditions are likely to dominate across the country. However, partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain and snowfall over mountainous areas are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the evening or night. Smog and fog patches may persist in Punjab’s plains at night.

Saturday Weather: the cold and dry spell will continue, with cloudy weather and light rain or snowfall forecasted at Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas. Smog and fog are likely to persist in plain areas of Punjab during the morning and night hours.

Past 24-Hour Overview: Dry weather prevailed across most of the country, with cold conditions in hilly regions. Smoggy and foggy conditions continued in some plains of Punjab. The lowest recorded temperatures were Leh (-6°C), Skardu (-4°C), and Gupis (-3°C).
