Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said the government is taking measures to ensure a complete ban on smoking in educational institutions.According to Radio Pakistan, in her message on the occasion of World No-Tobacco Day, she stated that smoking in government offices, public transport, and other public places is a punishable offence. She emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring strict implementation of relevant laws to curb smoking in these areas.Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed concern over the increasing use of tobacco products and vaping among young people. She highlighted that smoking and e-cigarette use are major causes of heart attacks and other serious health complications among the youth. The chief minister underscored the urgency of addressing this public health issue to safeguard the well-being of younger generations.
