Chief Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi, convened the sixth progress review session at the Supreme Court to expedite judicial reforms aimed at creating a more citizen-centric justice system. The meeting, held on September 4, 2025, brought together key stakeholders, including senior officials of the Supreme Court, the Registrar, IT Advisor Hamayun Zafar, section heads, the Senior Director of the Federal Judicial Academy, and the Secretary of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP).

The assembly focused on evaluating the monthly advancements under the Reform Action Plan (RAP). Of the 89 planned initiatives, 30 have been fully executed, 44 are currently underway, and 14 are slated to begin soon. This progress highlights the judiciary”s dedication to enhancing its structure and improving public services.

Justice Afridi reviewed data on case resolutions, categorization, IT incorporation, fiscal administration, and auditing procedures. He expressed contentment that the pace of case resolutions has outstripped the rate of new filings. The Chief Justice underscored the importance of financial rigor and audits for transparency and urged all departments to expedite outstanding tasks before the next review.

The Chief Justice stressed that prompt and efficient justice delivery is both a constitutional obligation and an ethical duty. Praising the contributions of officers and technical specialists, he reaffirmed the court”s commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and teamwork in developing a justice system that is open, contemporary, and fair. He emphasized that continuous improvement is vital for upholding public trust in the judiciary.
