Chaman’s people deprived of livelihood: ANP leader

Provincial President, Awami National Party, Asghar Khan Achakzai on Monday said that border trade was the only mean of livelihood for the people of Chaman, but the government deprived the people Chaman of earning their livelihood by closing Pak-Afghan border Chaman.

These views were expressed by him while addressing a public meeting held in Chaman under the auspices of ANP Chaman to express solidarity with the participants of a protest sit-in being observed in Chaman against the enforcement of single document regime policy. He said protest sit-in staged under the aegis of All Parties Chaman, Laghari Ittehad and Anjuman Tajiran Chaman would bear fruit.

It is pertinent to mention that protest sit-in under the aegis of All Parties Chaman, Laghari Ittehad and Anjuman Tajiran Chaman has been continuing for the last 212 days, demanding the authorities to grant permission to the citizens of district Chaman and district Killa Abdullah to cross border into Afghanistan for trade through computerised national identity card instead of visa and passport.

On the other hand, spokesman for provincial government, Shahid Rind said a high level committee of the provincial government, including Speaker Balochistan Provincial Assembly, Abdul Khaliq Achakzai and Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Mir Ziaullah Langove, had held talks with the representatives of Chaman’s sit-in, adding that the committee submitted its recommendations to Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bughti and Chief Minister Balochistan would bring the demands of Chaman’s sit-in into the notice of the authorities of federal government.
