BJP’s decade of rule a dark period for held Kashmir: Congress leader

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress chapter President Tariq Hameed Karra has strongly criticized the BJP’s decade-long rule in the territory, describing it as a dark period marked by significant hardships for the Kashmiri people.

According to a Kashmir Media Service report on Saturday, in a statement in Srinagar, Karra highlighted the BJP’s failure to address pressing issues such as unemployment and rising incidents of attacks, arguing that the party has systematically undermined the rights of the people of IIOJK.

‘The past decade of BJP rule in J and K has been a dark period in our history. From downgrading our State’s status to robbing our people of their rights, the BJP’s exploitation has led to soaring unemployment and a surge in militant incidents,’ Karra said.

He emphasized that the BJP’s claims of improving relations between the people of Kashmir and Delhi are mere rhetoric. ‘The past decade has seen rampant exploitation and a growing disconnect between New Delhi and the Kashmiri people. The BJP owes an apology to the citizens of J and K for their actions over the last ten years,’ he stated.

The IIOJK Congress leader was responding to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent claims that the BJP is making efforts to bridge the gap between Delhi and the hearts of the Kashmiri people. Karra countered that the electorate has clearly chosen to distance themselves from the BJP in upcoming elections, reflecting widespread discontent. ‘The people of Kashmir have opted for ‘BJP se doori,’ rejecting the false narrative of closeness that the party peddles,’ he added.
