LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday presided over a meeting, in which it was decided that in view of a suicide attack on the Chinese engineers at Besham in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other incidents of terrorism in the country, search operations in the province would be sped up.

ordered ensuring the protection of Chinese nationals living in the province besides beefing up security in and around sensitive places.

The chief minister gave these orders while chairing the first apex committee meeting after taking office. Punjab Police and other departments, on the occasion, briefed the chief minister about the law and order situation in the province.

It was decided at the meeting that in view of a suicide attack on the Chinese engineers at Besham in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other incidents of terrorism in the country, search operations in the province would be sped up.

Data on the Afghans living illegally in Punjab and the people indulging in propaganda on social media were also presented at the meeting.
