Basic Education Community School teachers denied ten months salaries in Larkana

Larkana: As many as 123 NCHD and Basic Education Community School teachers were denied payment of their fixed monthly salaries each of Rs25000 per month for the past ten months but when the cheques were handed over to the relevant Taluka Education Officers (TEOs) by the District Accounts Office, Larkana, their clerks demanded payment of illegal gratification of Rs5000 from each teacher or else they were denied handing over of the cheques.

The affected teachers complained to the media here on Monday on condition of anonymity for fear of repercussions. They said that cheques among 65 male and female teachers of Larkana Taluka were distributed but cheques to 58 teachers of Bakrani, Ratodero and Dokri Talukas were withheld for want of payment of Rs5000 by the relevant clerks hence the families of these teachers have been forced to celebrate Eid Ul Fitr under miserable conditions.

The affected teachers accused senior clerk Ali Murtaza Solangi of TEO Female office of demanding and getting Rs5000 from each teacher which was paid to him and then cheques were handed over to 23 male and 42 female teachers that too after running from pillar to post in this scorching heatwave. They said that 15 male and 10 female teachers of Ratodero taluka, seven male and 16 female teachers of Bakrani Taluka and seven male and three female teachers of Dokri taluka were denied handing over of their monthly salaries 10 months cheques as they could not pay corruption amount to the relevant clerks.

They further alleged that some teachers also paid the amount to the concerned clerks of these respective TEO offices of three Taluka but the clerks even then refused to give them cheques. The affected teachers and their children have thus been forced to celebrate Eid Ul Fitr in a very simple manner on credit basis.

The civil society has taken serious views of this highhandedness and expressed its anger and shock over the attitude and massive corruption in the education department which is resulting in the worst mismanagement. They have demanded of the NAB and Anti-Corruption Establishment to take immediate notice and order a thorough probe against the wolves sitting in the government offices who have not only ruined but have abused the entire system. Senior clerk Ali Murtaza Solangi was contacted to have his input but he did not attend the cell phone.
