High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan Md Iqbal Hussain Khan today met Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed at the HEC Secretariat to discuss facilitation measures for Bangladeshi students in Pakistani universities.
Adviser Global Engagement HEC Awais Ahmed and Project Director (HRD) Jehanzeb Ali Khan were also present. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed highlighted the potential for academic and research collaboration between higher education institutions in both countries. He emphasized the importance of student and faculty exchange programs and scholarship opportunities.
The High Commissioner underscored the need to enhance bilateral cooperation in higher education through better support for students. He expressed interest in strengthening academic ties between universities in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed assured full support from HEC in extending necessary facilitation for Bangladeshi students aspiring to study or currently enrolled in Pakistan. He reiterated HEC’s commitment to fostering collaboration between universities through academic and research linkages.
During the meeting, the Chairman invited the High Commissioner to encourage the participation of the Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and Vice Chancellors of leading Bangladeshi universities in the International Vice Chancellors Forum of the Islamic World in May 2025. He noted that the forum, in its sixth edition, aims to explore avenues for academic cooperation among Islamic countries.
