QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has announced holiday on February 9.
A press release issued by Services and General Administration Department today says, “Government of Balochistan is pleased to announce the day after general election, that is, 9th February, 2024 (Friday) as a closed holiday in the province.”
It may be noted that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared February 8 as a public holiday on the eve of general election. The ECP said a maximum number of people will be able to exercise their right to vote as a result of the public holiday. It has also made it clear that the polls will be held on February 8 across the country.
However, the Sindh government has announced five election holidays in all schools, and higher educational institutions across province. It said that all government and private schools, colleges, and universities in Sindh will remain closed from February 5 to February 9 for the upcoming general election that is set to be held on February 8, 2024.
