Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, urged the international community to take decisive action to protect humanitarian workers in conflict zones.

During a UN Security Council briefing focused on the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, Ahmad emphasized that global efforts are falling short in safeguarding those who dedicate their lives to aiding others.

He highlighted the recent tragic killing of fifteen humanitarian workers by Israel, including eight Palestinian medics, six civil defense first responders, and a UN staff member, calling it a “wanton and shameless act” in southern Gaza, which has left the world in shock.

Ahmad’s statement reflects Pakistan’s growing concern about the safety of humanitarian personnel and its call for the international community to address this pressing issue with urgency.
