All stakeholders meet to resolve industries’ water, power, gas issues

Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharejo chaired a meeting of the coordination committee at Tughlaq House in Karachi to resolve power, gas, water issues affecting industries

Secretary Industries and Commerce Muhammad Yasin Sher Baloch, Secretary Environment, Secretary Labor, Director General Sindh Building Control Authority, and representatives of Sui Southern Gas, K-Electric and business community were also present in the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation would ensure uninterrupted water supply to the industrial zones, while the relevant departments would assign focal persons for solving their problems. It was also decided that Sui Southern Gas will ensure uninterrupted gas supply to industrial zones.

The MD SITE will ensure the elimination of encroachments from the industrial zones while the cooperation of the local administration would also be sought in this regard.

It was also decided that the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board would sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant business organizations and under this MoU, waste material would be lifted from the industrial zones.

The Labor and Environment Departments will ensure the government-fixed wages and safety of factory works. It was also decided in the meeting that K-Electric would solve the problems related to power supply to the industrial zones. The Sindh Building Control Authority will regulate the industrial buildings established in the industrial zones.

Minister Dharejo said that the problems faced by the industrialists would be solved with the cooperation of all stakeholders.
