QUETTA:Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, has said that the incumbent provincial government was utilizing all available resources for the rehabilitation of flood affectees.
These views were expressed by him while addressing the meeting of Relief Coordination Committee held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif via video link. Bizenjo said that Prime Minister himself had reviewed the situation during his visit to the flood affected areas of the province and emphasized for expediting the assistance of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in rescue and relief operations.
Briefing the participants of meeting, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili, said that notification of the flood affected union councils had been issued and accordingly dispatched to the federal government. He said, “According to initial assessment, Rs. 15 billion are required for compensation of flood affectees and Rs. 20 billion are required for rehabilitation”.
Appreciating the performance of provincial departments and quick response to cope up with the emergent situation caused by the recent floods, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that federal government was ready to extend phase-wise assistance for compensation and rehabilitation activities to the provincial government.
