QUETTA: Shakeel Qadir Khan, Chief Secretary Balochistan, has said that all available resources were being utilised to root out polio virus so as to protect children of this contagious virus.



These views were expressed by him while chairing the meeting of Provincial Task Force for Anti-Polio here on Thursday.



Urging the need for raising awareness about polio drive, he said that it was inevitable to persuade reluctant parents for vaccinating their children against polio virus, adding that it had been committed to eradicating polio virus from the province.



Giving briefing to the participants of meeting, Secretary Health Department, Balochistan, Abdullah Khan said that about 20 lac and 55 thousand children below the age of five would be vaccinated during seven day anti polio drive to be kicked off in Balochistan from February 26, 2024 (Monday), adding that drops of Vitamin-A would also be administered to the children during the drive. On the occasion, Coordinator EOC, Syed Zahid Shah, authorities of WHO, UNICEF and others were also present.
