Islamabad:Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has taken steps to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country.
According to Radio Pakistan, Malik chaired a meeting focusing on maintaining the steady supply of petroleum products and implementing the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme. He emphasized the importance of preventing any disruptions, especially in the event of law and order issues or road closures.
During the meeting, the Additional Secretary Railways confirmed that Pakistan Railways would prioritize making train wagons available for diesel transportation if road closures occur, ensuring that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa receives its necessary supplies. Pakistan State Oil has been instructed to keep adequate fuel stocks at depots by planning in advance.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has set up a special control room to monitor and maintain the continuous availability of petroleum products. Malik also stressed the need to secure the uninterrupted supply of crude oil to Attock Refinery and the transportation of refined products.
The meeting highlighted that payments have already been made to over 8,500 petrol pumps out of a total of 10,000 as part of the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme, with the process ongoing daily. Malik also urged OGRA to act against petrol pumps that fail to provide eligible consumers with the fuel relief.
The Petroleum Dealers Association assured their full cooperation with the government to ensure the successful implementation of the relief scheme.
