Pakistan’s Foreign Office today issued a sharp rebuke to the Taliban administration, demanding it cease commenting on Pakistan’s internal affairs and instead honor its international commitments to prevent its territory from being used for terrorism.

In an official release, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan confirmed that Islamabad has “noted the recent statements made by the spokesperson of the Taliban regime regarding Pakistan”s internal affairs.”

The spokesperson strongly encouraged the Afghan official to prioritize issues pertinent to Afghanistan and its governance. “We strongly encourage the Afghan spokesperson to prioritize issues pertinent to Afghanistan,” the communiqué read.

Emphasizing established diplomatic conduct, the statement asserted that the principle of non-interference in the matters of other countries should be strictly followed. The Foreign Office made it clear that Pakistan does not require external guidance on its domestic issues.

Mr. Khan also reminded the authorities in Kabul of their obligations and promises made to the international community during the Doha Process.

The dispatch explicitly called on the Taliban to focus on creating an inclusive and truly representative government and to halt what it described as “baseless propaganda,” rather than engaging in matters beyond their jurisdiction.
