Afghan Taliban’s Social Media Post Criticized by Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting

Islamabad:The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has criticized a recent tweet by the Afghan Taliban spokesperson, describing it as indicative of the regime's misguided approach and reluctance to tackle the fundamental issues affecting its relations with Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ministry stated in a social media post on X that the Taliban leadership continues to place blame on Islamabad’s policies while neglecting the critical issue of terrorism originating from Afghan territory, which is a major factor damaging bilateral relations.

The ministry emphasized Pakistan's firm stance that terrorism is a non-negotiable red line and the security of its citizens is paramount. It conveyed that the Afghan Taliban regime must recognize that Pakistan will not tolerate terrorist bases along its borders that threaten its security, nor will it allow its citizens to be targets of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the ministry asserted that Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary measures, in accordance with international law, to eliminate threats to its national security, no matter where they originate. It urged Kabul to acknowledge that the responsibility for addressing these threats lies with the Afghan Taliban regime and that Pakistan's determination to protect its people should never be perceived as a weakness.

The ministry concluded by stating that the Taliban regime's ongoing refusal to address terrorism is the main barrier to normal relations. It warned that shifting blame, making hollow assurances, and questioning Pakistan's policies will not resolve the crisis or absolve Kabul of its responsibilities. The Afghan Taliban leadership was urged to understand that Pakistan's security will not be compromised by the Taliban's inaction, evasions, or misplaced priorities.
