Adopt conservation measures to reduce fuel consumption: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif made a direct appeal to the citizens to adopt conservation measures in their daily routines to reduce fuel consumption. He stressed that, “Think before you travel if it is necessary, is it essential to take out the car or motorcycle every time.”

Mr. Sharif, in a statement today, stressed that national austerity is no longer a choice but has become a “collective responsibility”.

Presenting the global context, he said that fuel prices across the world have doubled, leading to long queues at petrol stations in other countries. He said, “Prices have gone beyond the control of the public and governments, but your government has so far prevented this storm of inflation from reaching you.”

The Prime Minister concluded by saying that the government cannot face this situation alone and demanded the public to fully support a comprehensive plan to get out of this difficult economic period, which will be announced in the coming days.
