Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram has said the UN system can only be strengthened through strict adherence to all the principles of the UN Charter.

He was explaining the position of the Like-Minded Group (LMG) of countries during an Open Debate on the theme of ‘Strengthening the UN System’ in New York, according to a Radio Pakistan’s report.

Ambassador Munir Akram said reform of the UN should address historical injustices and avoid being manipulated by the major powers, while empowering the General Assembly to resolve conflicts and advance disarmament.

He said a comprehensive multilateral solution to the ongoing debt crisis faced by many developing nations is urgently needed.
