Human rights activists and supporters of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui gathered outside FMC Carswell jail today to peacefully demand her release.
Hundreds participated in the demonstration, which included men, women, and children. Information from Texas revealed that noted religious scholar Imam Omar Suleiman addressed the attendees. Despite his presence, the jail administration continues to deny him permission to meet with Siddiqui.
In response to these restrictions, Siddiqui’s legal team has formulated a contingency plan, as confirmed by her lawyer Clive Smith. He highlighted ongoing allegations of sexual violence against Dr. Aafia within the facility, describing her conditions as more severe than those faced by prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.
The demonstration underscores ongoing concerns about Siddiqui’s treatment and detention conditions.
