Actions against illegal immigrants should be accelerated: IGP Sindh

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Riffat Mukhtar Raja, chairing a top level meeting at his office in the city on Monday directed relevant officials to accelerate actions against illegal immigrants.

The meeting discussed in detail the agenda items including the repatriation of illegal immigrants, antitrafficking campaign and security affairs of upcoming general elections, and issued directives in this regard.

The DI Special Branch delivered a detailed briefing on the repatriation of illegal immigrants to their homelands and all the affairs and measures taken at the centers established for deportation of illegal immigrants.

IGP Sindh directed officials concerned to check the identity cards and family tree of illegal immigrants with NADRA and if any issue comes up in this regard, then a formal list pertaining to those issues should be furnished to him so that those issues could be resolved as soon as possible. He said that all the teams working for deportation of illegal immigrants should speed up their work.

Mr Riffat also issued directives to speed up the ongoing antitrafficking campaign in the province and take a stern action against the groups, their operatives and leaders involved in trafficking.

The IGP Sindh said that a formal list should also be prepared pertaining to the upcoming general elections to access the number of polling stations, candidates, voters, seats of national and provincial assemblies, and highly sensitive, sensitive and normal polling stations so that deployment of security manpower could b ensured under foolproof security plan.

A comprehensive security plan should be prepared with strong in coordination with the law enforcement agencies, in which measures such as the implementation of the Code of Conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan and its priorities must be included.

Additional IGP Karachi Khadim Hussain Rind, DIGs, Headquarters, Admin, Special Branch, CTD, Traffic AIGs Admin, Operations also participated in the meeting.
