Achakzai demands FIR against top officials over Nov 27 incident

Tahreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan leader and Pushtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) Chairman, MNA Mehmood Khan Achakzai, has called for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) of martyrs of Nov 27 Islamabad incident against Inspector General Rangers, and other senior officials.

Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Thursday, Mr Achakzai alleged that the state had violated basic human rights and torn the Constitution apart in suppressing the protesters. “Straight firing was opened on peaceful citizens at D-Chowk, with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers deliberately targeted in the head,’ he claimed.

Calling for a judicial probe into the incident, Mr Achakzai warned of dire consequences if public grievances were ignored, stating, “If people stand up, the country will dismember.” He also criticized the alleged manipulation of the February 8 general election, claiming the people’s mandate was “stolen.”

The PMAP chief underscored the need for fresh elections, urging political parties to agree on a date within three to four months. “The government must be handed over to whichever party secures the people’s mandate,” he asserted.

Highlighting the deteriorating law and order in Balochistan, Mr Achakzai said, “A state that cannot ensure peace has no right to rule,” he remarked.

He also dismissed the importance of a resolution being tabled in the Balochistan Assembly, calling it insignificant. Mr Achakzai advocated for the immediate release of PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, on bail. “No sky will fall if he is granted bail,” he said, describing the continued detention as unnecessary and provocative.

Senior PMAP leaders, including Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, were present during the press briefing, echoing the party’s stance on these critical issues.
