Geneva: At the United Nations Human Rights Council, Pakistan, representing a cross-regional group of countries, emphasized that access to water is crucial to maintaining inherent human dignity and the right to life.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan's Permanent Representative in Geneva, Bilal Ahmad, highlighted in his statement that access to water is essential for the progressive realization of human rights, including an adequate standard of living, health, drinking water, sanitation, and food. He also stressed its importance in promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls.
Pakistan's envoy further stated that within the framework of their future pact, states have committed to preventing water scarcity and ensuring the availability and sustainable management of clean and safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for all. This commitment includes implementing effective policies to achieve these goals.
