Civil society members staged a peaceful protest in front of FMC Carswell jail of Texas, USA, where Dr Aafia Siddiqui is imprisoned and demanded her immediate release.
According to a statement, civil society members including Imam Nasir Hirani, Yaqoob Ira and Farheen Siddiqui spoke on the occasion and demanded to release Dr Siddiqui and also to close down this US prison notorious for physical, mental and sexual violence on its inmates.
The speaker regretted that so many Muslims but a very few Islam. They said the Muslims are hardly taking any serious effort for the cause of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. She has been in jail for 21years. They said Dr Aafia Siddiqui is the sister in Islam but how many of the Muslims are talking about her cause.
They said that a clemency campaign for Dr Aafia Siddiqui has already been started and all peace loving people should take part in it. They welcomed the decision of the government of Pakistan to send a delegation to the USA for talking to the American administration about the release of Aafia. They urged all peace loving people to send the clemency letters for Dr Aafia Siddiqui to the US president.
