A Heart-Wrenching Event in Human History: Haji Hanif Tayyab

Former Federal Minister for Petroleum and leader of the Nizam-e-Mustafa Party, Dr. Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, has described the tragedy of Karbala as a “heart-wrenching event in human history.” Speaking at the Jamia Masjid Firdous in Pakistan Quarters, he emphasized the lessons of sacrifice, peace, and brotherhood in Muharram. He stated that Imam Hussain and his followers chose martyrdom rather than pledging allegiance to Yazid, creating a “saga of loyalty.”

Tayyab said the sacrifices made at Karbala are an example for those who defend the truth and that salvation lies in following Hussain. He urged Muslim leaders to reflect on the events of Karbala and learn to resist oppression.

The former minister framed the historical conflict as an ongoing struggle between “Hussainiyat and Yazidiyat,” labeling oppressors as followers of Yazid. He called for unity among Muslim leaders to confront the enemies of Islam and end the suffering of Muslims worldwide, especially in Gaza, Palestine, and occupied Kashmir, using Hussain’s example as a guide. Qari Hamid-ul-Hassan Hasni also addressed the gathering and narrated a detailed account of the events of Karbala.
