37% Increase in Tax Collections in Sindh

A meeting of the Board of Revenue, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, reviewed the mid-year performance of the province’s tax collections. It was reported in the meeting that provincial institutions collected 312 billion rupees in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2024-25, which is 50.41% of the annual target. This collection is 37% higher compared to the same period last year.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Agha Wasif, SMBR Bakhauallah Anar, Secretary Finance Fayaz Jatoi, Secretary Excise Saleem Rajput, and other relevant officials.

During the briefing, it was revealed that the provincial institutions have been given a target of 618.97 billion rupees for the fiscal year 2024-25. From July 2024 to February 2025, 312 billion rupees were collected, showing a 37% increase.

It was reported in the meeting that the Excise and Taxation Department collected 175.50 billion rupees from six taxes and duties, which is 86% of their target. The Sindh Revenue Board collected 204.63 billion rupees out of an annual target of 350 billion rupees, which is 26% more than last year’s collections.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to intensify efforts to achieve the annual target. The Board of Revenue was given a target of 60.70 billion rupees, out of which 17.43 billion rupees have been collected. This collection is 38.96% higher compared to last year.
