The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) conducted its inaugural Regional Event of the Women Empowerment Mentoring Programme (WEMP) at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on February 25, 2025. The event gathered participants from four prominent Lahore universities, marking a milestone in academic mentorship and leadership for women.
According to HEC information today, the event took place at Iqra Auditorium, LCWU, and included distinguished academicians, mentors, and mentees from partner universities such as Kinnaird College for Women University, University of Home Economics Lahore, and Fatima Jinnah Medical University. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Home Economics Lahore, attended alongside her WEMP team, highlighting the significance of the occasion.
Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, Vice Chancellor of LCWU and WEMP National Steering Committee member, delivered the welcome address, stressing mentorship’s role in empowering women in academia. She noted that three workshops on WEMP modules had been conducted under her guidance.
Muhammad Muneeb-Ur-Rehman, Assistant Director NAHE, provided an overview of the programme, detailing its objectives and achievements. Dr. Tahira Kalsoom, WEMP Focal Person at LCWU, presented a report on the university’s initiatives supporting women’s professional growth.
The highlight was a talk by Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director NAHE, addressing the programme’s impact on future leaders. She underscored mentorship’s role in overcoming barriers and emphasized self-analysis for professional effectiveness.
An interactive Q and A session followed, fostering discussions on women’s leadership and growth. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Prof. Dr. Farzana Rashid, Chairperson WEMP Committee, expressing gratitude to all contributors.
