94th death anniversary of Pakistan Movement leader Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, buried in Jerusalem, observed

The 94th death anniversary of the key figure of the Pakistan Movement, Rais-ul-Ahrar Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, who passed away in London and was laid to rest in Jerusalem according to his will, was observed on Sunday.

A staunch supporter of the establishment of Pakistan, Jauhar also played a vital role in the historic Khilafat Movement.

This influential leader was also a renowned journalist and poet. He launched the famous English weekly “Comrade” from Calcutta in 1911 and subsequently his Urdu journal “Hamdard” from Delhi in 1913.

His collection of poetry was later published under the name “Diwan-e-Jauhar”.

Born on December 10, 1878, in Rampur, British India, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar studied at Lincoln College, Oxford, after receiving his education from Aligarh College.

He passed away in London on January 4, 1931, and the day is now remembered every year.
