Army Act Amendment Bill 2023 sent to president for approval

ISLAMABAD:Army Act Amendment Bill 2023 has been sent to President Arif Alvi for ratification, officials said on Wednesday. National Assembly Secretariat forwarded Army Act Amendment Bill 2023 and Cantonment Amendment Bill 2023 to the presidency for ratification with Bring Tech Pro. Both the bills were passed by the lower house of the Parliament, National Assembly on Tuesday, while the Senate has already passed the bills. On July 27, the Senate passed a bill proposing amendments to the Pakistan Army Act 1952. LHC moved against recent hike in fuel prices

LAHORE:A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday, challenging the recent hike in fuel prices by the federal government. The plea was moved by Azhar Siddique Advocate, the chairman of the Judicial Activism Panel in the Lahore High Court. The plea stated that the federal government has jacked up the prices of petroleum products which would lead to a further rise in inflation. Poliovirus detected in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD:Wild poliovirus has been detected in sewage samples from Peshawar and Rawalpindi districts, according to a report on Wednesday citing NIH. According to the Pakistan Polio Laboratory at the National Institute of Health, the virus was found in an environmental sample collected from Shaheen Muslim Town in Peshawar and in another collected from Sarai Khola Taxila. Type-1 wild poliovirus has been detected in environmental samples in Peshawar, said sources. The last polio case from Peshawar was reported on July 20, 2020. Zubair Tiwana notified new FBR chairman

ISLAMABAD:The federal government Tuesday night notified the appointment of Amjad Zubair Tiwana as new Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman, officials said Wednesday. “With the approval of federal government, a BS 21 officer of IRS Amjad Zubair Tiwana presently posted as member IR Operations FBR is appointed as chairman Fbr under section 10 of the civil servants act 1973 and until further orders,” the notification issued by Established Division stated.
