SC bars LEAs from arresting PTI chairman in lawyer murder case

ISLAMABAD:A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Monday barred the law enforcement agencies from arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief till next date of hearing on August 9 in lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar murder case. The three-member bench headed by Justice Yahya Afridi also comprised Justice Musarrat Hilali and Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi. PTI chairman was also present in the court at the time of hearing. Lawyer of the petitioner did not attend court. Advocate General Balochistan sought court order for PTI chairman to join the investigation process and report to investigation officer. 12 killed, 15 injured in 24 hours rain incidents

QUETTA:Monsoon rains lashed southern parts of the country during the past 24 hours, killing 12 people and injuring 15 others, as flash flooding disconnected many towns and settlements from the rest of the country. Rainwater and deluge in local streams and smaller rivers submerged a vast area, damaging houses, businesses and infrastructure amid heavy downpour in Sindh and Balochistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister resigns

PESHAWAR:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker Transport Minister Shahid Khattak has stepped down from his position after the Election Commission of Pakistan sought his dismissal, according to a report on Monday. Khattak sent his resignation to interim KP Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan. He also faxed his resignation to the provincial chief secretary. He cited personal reasons behind his decision to step down. In his resignation note, he wrote: “It is stated that I am unable to continue as caretaker provincial minister due to some personal commitments. PM says no increase in electricity tariff for consumers using 200 units

LAHORE :Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said that the price of electricity was increased under the condition of IMF and 31 percent domestic consumers in the country using up to 300 units per month were still being partially subsidized.
