Nasla Tower case: Police interrogate SBCA officials

KARACHI: A day after the registration of a criminal case against the builder of Nasla Tower, officials of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and others, a police team on Wednesday raided its headquarters.

The team led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) investigation Altaf Hussain conducted the raid at the SBCA headquarters and interrogated officials concerned.

Nasla Tower, a multi-storey residential building on Shahrah-e-Faisal, is being demolished on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Earlier, the Ferozeabad police registered an FIR against the builder of Nasla Tower, officials of the SBCA, Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society and the plot owner.

Customs seizes 136 000 litres foreign diesel, other gears worth Rs150m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Balochistan claimed to have seized 136000 litres foreign diesel and other gears worth Rs. 150 million in a joint operation conducted on Wednesday in Muslim Bagh area of the province in cooperation with Frontier Corps (FC), Balochistan.

Ten trucks used for smuggling foreign gears were also taken into custody. According to a statement issued by the media cell of Collectorate of Customs, Balochistan, staff of customs posted at Ziarat cross check post of customs and Frontier Corps (FC), Balochistan raided a convoy in Muslim Bagh area. 136000 litres foreign diesel and other foreign gears, including plastic bags, cigarette, foreign clothes, Chinese salt, tobacco, almond, water cooler, worth Rs150 million were seized from 10 trucks in the joint operation conducted in Muslim Bagh.

The seized gears, including trucks, were shifted to customs house, Quetta for further legal action. Operation was conducted by the staff of customs Ziarat cross under the supervision of Superintendent, Saleem Agha, Inspector Ahmed Nawaz Zehri and Inspector Bashir Wazeer in compliance with the directives of Chief Collector Customs, Muhammad Sadiq, Collector Customs (Preventive), Dr. Fareed Khan and Additional Collector, Afzal Ali.

Health insurance card across country to be launched next month: Dr Faisal

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan has said the health insurance card covering entire population of the country will be launched next month.

He stated this while addressing a ceremony at the under-construction Mother and Child Hospital in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

He said the hospital will provide a state of the art neo-natal intensive care unit, MRI and other diagnostic facilities to the people under the one roof. Dr Faisal Sultan said the health card project will help people bear the burden of medical expenditures. He said it is a reflection of service delivery on part of government for the people.

Child dies in road mishap

QUETTA: An eight-year-old child was killed after being hit by a tractor at Jamiat Road area of Quetta in Balochistan province on Wednesday.

According to rescue sources, the child died after being hit by a tractor at Jamiat Road area of Quetta. The child, identified as Muhammad Shafique, son of Muhammad Sharif Kakar, resident of Jamiat Road, Quetta was shifted to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta and later handed over to the heirs after fulfilling necessary medico-legal formalities.

The incident has created a mourning atmosphere at the victim’s house. Further investigation was being conducted by the authorities of concerned police station.

310 ladies participates in 7km race for PC jobs

LARKANA: As many as 310 ladies candidates participated in the seven kilometers race test held under the Pakistan Testing Services for recruitment of lady police constables here on Wednesday.

They belonged to the entire Larkana division which consists of five districts including Kambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Kandhkot @ Kashmore, Jacobabad and Larkana. Most of the female candidates failed to complete the race hence were out but their results were not announced. AIGP Welfare and Principal, Police Training Center inspected the arrangements before the test.

According to the relevant authorities, those who cleared the race test will be tested for their height and then interviews will be conducted and then their results will be uploaded on the website. This shows that massive unemployment and inflation has forced poverty-ridden people to allow their family’s female members including daughters, sisters and wives to go out to seek employment to run the affairs of their respective homes.

Healthy activities enhance positive image of varsities: Governor Sindh

KARACHI: The National Idea Bank (NIB), a collaboration among the academia, government, and industry, aims at addressing the indigenous issues through application of technology and innovations in business and governance models.

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail said this while addressing at the closing ceremony of National Idea Bank, Provincial Level Competition here at Karachi University’s Auditorium today. Levies force arrest PO in raid

KHUZDAR: Levies force, Khuzdar claimed to have arrested proclaimed offender in an operation conducted in Baghbana area of district Khuzdar in Balochistan province on Wednesday.

Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Khuzdar, Abdul Quddus Achakzai and Assistant Commissioner, Khuzdar, Jamil Ahmed Baloch, levies force, Khuzdar led by Naib Tehsildar, Baghbana, Habib Gichki and Incharge, Levies Force, Baghbana, Abdul Malik Rind apprehended proclaimed offender Shairdil son of Sultan Jatoe.

The accused was wanted to Dera Allah Yar Police in FIR No. 145/ 2020 under section 382, in an operation conducted in Baghbana area of Khuzdar. The accused was handed over to the authorities of Dera Allah Yar police for further investigation.

Wajiha Swati murder case: Court extends physical remand of key accused

RAWALPINDI: A court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday extended the physical remand of the key accused in the kidnapping and murder case of American national Wajiha Swati by three days.

Police produced the three accused, including Wajiha’s ex-husband Rizwan Habib, his father and employee, before the court on the completion of their previous physical remand. The investigation officer pleaded that their remand be extended for further investigation. He said the murder weapon and the vehicle used to transport the victim’s body to Lakki Marwat have not yet been recovered from the accused.

Civil Judge Tariq Khan extended the accused persons’ physical remand for three days. Earlier, the victim’s former husband confessed to abducting her soon after her arrival in Pakistan and killing her and burying her body in Lakki Marwat. Wajiha had gone missing soon after she reached Pakistan on October 16, the police said. A case was registered with the Morgah police station on the complaint of her eldest son. The FIR nominated Rizwan Habib as the main accused.
