LARKANA: Foolproof security will be provided to 44 mourning processions and 65 majalis on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) in Larkana district.
According to the contingency plan issued by the police here on Thursday, as many as 2000 police officers and constables will be deployed for security including women cops.
The 16 Majalis and mourning processions have been declared sensitive out of which 12 are highly sensitive. Rangers will also discharge their duties. Anti-terrorism squad and Reserve Platoons will be on standby and alert to face any untoward situation. Sweeping and clearance of all the routes and Imam Bargahs will be made through the special branch, CTD and DIB. All police officers will be in touch with law enforcement agencies and the control room for advanced intelligence collection and sharing.
Volunteers of various associations will also be included along with the police and other law enforcement agencies for the integrated security of all Imambargahs and processions. In this regard, all the volunteers have been trained. Body search and comprehensive search of those attending majalis, processions and Imambargahs will be ensured.
A contigency plan also states that all arrangements, including walk through gates, metal detectors, video recording, CCTV cameras, bomb disposal squad and traffic matters, have been completed. SSP Asif Raza Baloch directed all the DSPs and SHOs to remain in contact with all the relevant people, including peace committee members, district administration, scholars and religious leaders as any kind of negligence will not be tolerated. A special Control Room will be established at the SSP office.
