155 more dengue cases recorded in Punjab

LAHORE:In the past twenty-four hours, Punjab has recorded a total of 155 new cases of dengue, as confirmed by Secretary Health Punjab today.

The surge in dengue cases is concerning, as it highlights the ongoing threat posed by the dengue virus in the province. Secretary Ali Jan Khan emphasized the need for immediate action to curb the spread of the disease.

He urged citizens to play their part by maintaining a clean and dry environment, as this is a critical step in preventing the breeding of dengue-carrying mosquitoes. Public awareness and community efforts are essential to mitigate the risk of dengue outbreaks.

The health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and take measures to control the spread of the virus. Vigilance and cooperation from the public remain key components in the battle against dengue in Punjab.

Dengue prevention is essential to reduce the risk of contracting this mosquito-borne viral infection, which can lead to a potentially severe illness known as dengue fever. Dengue prevention strategies focus on reducing mosquito breeding sites, protecting against mosquito bites, and controlling the spread of the virus. Here are some key measures for dengue prevention:

Eliminate Standing Water: Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit the dengue virus, breed in stagnant water. Regularly inspect and remove any containers, such as flower pots, buckets, and discarded tires, that can collect and hold water.

Cover Water Containers: If it’s not possible to empty containers, cover them to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs in the water.

Keep Gutters and Drains Clean: Ensure that gutters and drains are clear of debris and allow water to flow freely to prevent the buildup of stagnant water.

Use Larvicides: In areas with persistent mosquito breeding, larvicides can be used to treat standing water and kill mosquito larvae.
