14 grid stations affected by hailstorm in three districts

LARKANA: After closure of 14 grid stations in Larkana, Shikarpur and Kambar-Shahdadkot districts due to heavy downpour and hailstorm on Wednesday SEPCO authorities have so far failed to restore electricity in any town of these districts even after passage of 28 hours.

These grid stations include nine of 132KV and five of 66 KV and the areas affected include Garhi Yasin, Miro Khan, Ratodero, Naundero, Shahdadkot, Gahri Khero, Kambar, Warah, Larkana City, Larkana Site, Madeji, Dokri and Radhan Grid Stations. Non-restoration of electricity supply to the affected areas has exposed the working of SEPCO authorities where massive corruption has surpassed all previous records. Worst affected were the fasting people who suffered a lot in this scorching heat.

When this Scribe contacted the Superintendent Engineer, Larkana Circle, to know the prevailing situation, his cellular number was found off. The Executive Engineer (Rural) was contacted but his number also did not respond. Cell number of SDO Naundero who is also holding the charge of Ratodero also remained off.

Sources however said that few towers have fallen down which have not so far been repaired. Larkanians murmured that not a single town of cellular phones have so far been reported to have fallen down due to heavy dust storms then why the WAPDA towers are always falling down, are these made of mud?
