Yasmin Rashid chairs Provincial Anti-Polio Task force meeting

LAHORE:A meeting of the Provincial Anti-Polio Task Force was held under the chair of Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid in the Darbar Hall of the Civil Secretariat which was attended by Add Chief Secretary Iram Bukhari, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Care Sara Aslam, Add. Secretary Sundas Irshad and the representatives of UNICEF.

The meeting reviewed in detail the measures taken to eradicate polio from the province. The Health Minister was briefed in detail by Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Care Sarah Aslam and Add. Secretary Sindh Irshad briefed the Health Minister on the steps taken to eradicate polio. The representatives of UNICEF and other stakeholders also expressed their views.

Dr Yasmeen Rashid while expressing her views said that the government is utilizing its all-out sources to curb polio in Punjab. Dr Yasmeen Rashid urged the need of making joint efforts by all stakeholders to eradicate polio. She said that a comprehensive anti-polio campaign is being launched in 11 districts of Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh and Okara from 2nd August to 6th August.

She assured that she will personally monitor anti-polio campaign. She said that more than 9.4 million children will be administer polio vaccine during this campaign. She was further briefed that the training has been imparted to all polio workers to turn this anti-polio campaign a success. She was told that more than 67,000 staff members of more than 27,000 polio teams will perform their duties in the anti-polio campaign starting from 2nd August. She said that polio workers have also been trained with regard to Coronas SOPs.

Dr Yasmeen said that the role of parents have also the great important in making the anti-polio campaign success. She asked the parents to administer polio drops to their children to protect them from lifelong disability. She said that PTI government is determined to make entire Pakistan a polio free country. She directed to carry anti-polio campaign in an effective manner keeping in view the large population and 100% target will be achieved in 11 districts.

She said that the administration of Punjab is united and striving to make the Punjab a polio free province. She said that all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners should personally monitor the anti-polio campaign. She said that Corona vaccination target in Punjab is also being achieved successfully.

Additional Chief Secretary Iram Bukhari’s also expressed her view in the meeting and said that all commissioners and deputy commissioners should become a part of this drive. The representatives of Health Minister commended the efforts of Dr Yasmeen Rashid and the administration to eradicate polio in Punjab.
