ISLAMABAD: Administrator Karachi, Sindh Government Spokesperson and CM Advisor on Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab Thursday said that the provincial government had enacted most of the legislation on the basis of gender and all the legislation has been updated on the website

“We need the help of the courts so that cases related to gender or aliens can be decided within 90 days,” the Administrator expressed these views while addressing a seminar on Gender Based Violence at a local hotel which was also attended by Provincial Minister for Women Development Shehla Raza, IGP Sindh and other prominent personalities.

The Administrator Karachi said that we have enacted legislation on human rights and women’s rights and set up a call center from where the common man can get free legal advice. He said that 288 investigation officers will investigate cases made on gender basis.

“It has been three years since the law was passed that the case should be disposed of in 90 days but it takes a long time here which should not be done. Legislation and arresting the culprits are the job of the government and the police,” he added.

Wahab said that women have also been given priority in the recruitment of investigation officers. He said that Sindh government was encouraging women, urging the women to come forward.

The Administrator Karachi said that all relevant aspects are taken into consideration while enacting legislation in sensitive matters. The Sindh government is also fulfilling its responsibilities in this regard.

“It is hoped that the future of gender-based legislation will bear fruit and benefit the people,” he added.
