LARKANA: Senior advocate Qadir Bux Bhatti has accused Jameel Soomro, political secretary to the PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, of threatening him to get my son’s candidature withdrawn in recently held District Bar Association (DBA) election 2022.
While addressing a press conference at Larkana Press Club on Tuesday along with advocates Hamid Hussain Qazi and Azhar Ali Bhatti, Qadir Bux further alleged that after our refusal, Soomro got my family members and relatives transferred who are working in various government departments using his influence on district administration. He said his son Mahboob Bhatti, who was contesting DBA election as an independent candidate for the post of Joint Secretary, was defeated by 20 votes after Soomro’s interference in the DBA election because, he added, our 24 ballot papers were missing. He said with the help of another influential advocate Asif Soomro all votes of government lawyers were also casted in their favour most of them were not registered as advocates, he further alleged.
He claimed that such highhandedness was meted out to me because I have always raised my voice and filed various applications in the courts for the benefit of the people of Larkana which they dislike. He claimed that even today threats of dire consequences are being given to me adding if any harm is done to me or my family then Jameel Soomro and his accomplices should be held responsible because he added Soomro openly worked for the PPP-backed panel and harassed our voters.
Bhatti said he is a senior advocate and has also remained DBA office bearer for several times on various posts. He appealed to the Chief Justices of Pakistan and Sindh, President and Prime Minister of Pakistan and other relevant authorities to take notice of the issue and rectify the highhandedness committed with us to dispense justice.
