Residents demand cleaning of sewage drain in Larkana

LARKANA: Residents of Nazar Muhalla held a protest demonstration in their locality here on Thursday against non-cleaning of sewage drain passing through their area.

They shouted slogans against the relevant municipal authorities which had failed to fulfill their basic responsibilities. Protesters including Sikandar Jatoi, Ahmed Ali Khushk, Senghar Dayo, Niaz Buledi, Ali Khan Chandio, Habib Kalhoro and others complained before media persons that no cleaning of the sewage drain has been made since past one year which was established in Union Committ-4 and Ward No. 3 of Nazar Muhalla near Lhi Pul due to which hazardous water is constantly overflowing and has entered into their homes and has also inundated streets.

They said due to stagnant sewage, the condition of their houses has become very dangerous and they fear losing innocent human lives if the cleaning is not carried out quickly. They said the worst affected are the girls who cannot go to schools to get education and other people who are unable to offer prayers at mosques.

They claimed that they also submitted several applications to the deputy commissioner, municipal authorities and UC secretary but all in vain. They urged higher authorities to take notice of the sheer negligence of the concerned authorities and ensure cleaning of the sewage drain immediately which spreads deadly diseases apart from environmental pollution.
