ISLAMABAD: Assistant Secretary General (ASG) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Tariq Ali Bakheet has said the extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers to be held in Islamabad on Sunday will adopt a clear strategy to deal with the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

Talking to the state media here in Islamabad on Thursday, he said the OIC meeting, in this regard, will adopt a very important comprehensive resolution. He said the forum is very serious and committed to support the Afghan people in this critical time.

He said the conference is going to give OIC a leading role in helping the Afghan people in order to alleviate their sufferings in terms of humanitarian medical supplies and assistance in all domains. He said the OIC is going to mobilize it’s all financial institutions and member states to get more resources to support the country.

About Pakistan’s role toward peace and stability in Afghanistan, the OIC Assistant Secretary General said Pakistan is the founding member of the OIC. He said Pakistan played a very important role for solidarity of the Muslim Ummah, and Pakistan’s offer to host this meeting is a clear testimony to its commitment to Islamic solidarity. He said Pakistan is also committed to regional as well as international security.
