LARKANA: Larkano Samaji Ittehad (LSI) took out a large Aman (peace) rally from Old Bus Stand here on Sunday against unprecedented inflation, rampant corruption, lawlessness, uncleanliness, drug peddling, acute shortage of fertilizers, land grabbers, money lenders, gambling dens and unavailability of required medical treatment facilities at the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

The rally after marching through various major roads reached the Jinnah Bagh Chowk where the participants staged a sit-in due to which all kinds of traffic came to standstill or it was diverted to other roads. The rally was joined by over 20 political, non-political, religious, nationalist, social welfare organizations and other parties which include PML-Nawaz, PPP-SB, Awami Tahreek, Larkano Advocate Forum, Sindh Shehri Ittehad, STP, Pakistan Labour Federation and others.

Hafiz Gul Hassan Jatoi, LSI Chairman, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed Shaikh, Ahmed Bux Korai, Imdad Shaikh and others while addressing the participants said that tribal disputes have become common in Larkana and no citizen is safe here due to the worst lawlessness situation. They said thefts, looting and other crimes have become very common and then they asked how long people of Larkana will suffer for the sheer negligence of others.

They said that residents have already been deprived of better medical treatment facilities including medicines and other fundamental necessities. “Corruption is rampant in government departments where no work is done without extortion”, they alleged, adding “uncleanliness is everywhere in streets and muhallas as there is no proper system of removing garbage and maintain cleanliness, despite having police there is no peace and drugs are being openly sold due to which young generation is ruining its future, gambling dens are running under the supervision of cops and sale of Ghutka has become common”.

They said due to open sale of narcotics across the district including wine, the young generation which has to build its future is busy destroying themselves just for the stupidity of the police. They said money-lending business has crumbled so many families but there is no body to bring all the accused to justice without loss of time. The said due to wrong policies of the rulers inflation has deprived the poor people of 2-time meals which indeed is very barbaric.

They demanded the higher government authorities to take stern action immediately against social evils, save lives of young generation, maintain law and order, eliminate tribal feuds, gambling dens, sale of narcotics, dens, their suppliers and facilitators forthwith.
