QUETTA: Mathar Niaz Rana, Chief Secretary, Balochistan, has said that government was taking steps to provide security and other facilities to the people of the province. He said that due to the security forces, law and order situation in the province had been maintained.
These views were expressed by him while presiding over a high-level meeting held here on Thursday in connection with removing unnecessary check posts set up on different highways of the province. The meeting reviewed report of Home and Tribal Affairs Department about the check posts of different law enforcement agencies set up on different highways of the province.
The meeting was informed that 728 check posts had been set up by federal and provincial law enforcement agencies, out of which 100 had already been removed on the directives of Chief Secretary, Balochistan. Addressing participants of the meeting, Rana said that government was taking steps to provide security and other Facilities to the people of the province.
He added that important check post set up on different highways be identified while unnecessary check posts be removed. He said that each department would have to play its role to curb corruption in check posts, adding that legal proceedings would be initiated against the staff found involved in corruption.
Meeting was attended, inter alia, by Arshad Majeed, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Home and Tribal Affairs Department, Government of Balochistan, Inspector General of Police, Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir Rae, Secretary, Forest and Wildlife Department, Dostain Jamaldini, representatives of 12 Corps, Frontier Corps FC, Balochistan and Collectorate of Customs, Balochistan.
