Ghani asks PTI to stop daydreaming about winning LG polls in Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Sindh Minister for Information Saeed Ghani on Tuesday wondered what would be the outcome of elections for the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in other provinces of the country when the party, what he claimed, had been ‘eliminated’ in the local bodies’ (LBs) elections even in its traditional stronghold, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Talking to the media in Karachi, he said despite the fact that the party’s governments at Center as well as in the province did their utmost to rig the elections, still they had to face humiliation. “Stop daydreaming about winning LBs polls in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan,” he said, claiming that the people of Sindh’s votes belonged to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Responding to a question about new local bodies’ law, the minister dispelled the impression that the Sindh government was going to introduce a new local government system in Karachi. “We have only introduced some amendments to the local bodies’ law of 2013 just in order to bring about more improvements. Political opponents of the PPP indulge in such kind of propaganda to inflame the situation,” he commented.

Ghani said that just like in other parts of the country, the gas crisis had also worsened in Karachi. He regretted that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) did not utter a word on the shortage of urea fertilizer in the city.
