Diwali celebration: Hindu boy loses eye in fireworks

NAUNDERO: An 11-year old Hindu boy lost his right eye when he used fireworks to celebrate Diwali at his home last night. He was identified as Dheeraj Kumar son of Bhajan Das, resident of Katpar Muhalla. His father said that his minor son used a firecracker which incidentally hit his right eye and he started crying and bleeding.

He said he was immediately rushed to a private medical centre in Larkana as there are no emergency treatment facilities at Rural Health Centre in Naundero to save his precious eye but could not. The expert Ophthalmologist told the father that the boy will never be able to see from his right eye as it has completely been damaged.

Firecrackers used during celebrations are openly sold in cities and towns across Sindh right under the nose of police despite a ban on their sale but the cops allow their sale openly and daringly after getting huge money from the stockists and retailers. These fireworks are brought from Punjab but nobody checks them during their journey from Punjab to Sindh not even at Sindh-Punjab bordering area so that their sale could be curbed with iron hands of law which will save many innocent lives.

So many people have lost their precious lives, arms, hands and other body parts but the rulers have taken no action against the suppliers and their facilitators which must be taken notice of on now or never basis, the residents demanded.
