LARKANA: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation SIUT is the only institution in the world that is working for the benefit of humanity. The facility is available because of hard work and untiring efforts of Dr. Adeebul Hassan Rizvi, we pray for Dr. Adeeb Rizvi.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Day Care Dialysis Centre here on Thursday. He said that SIUT is proof that if the right people are given the work and the government gets funding from all the people then such international organizations are formed. He said that after Karachi and Sukkur, there is an institution like SIUT in Larkana and we like institutions like NICVD have opened up institutions like SIUT in every district headquarters in Sindh.
He said we will provide facilities, the philosophy of the PPP is to provide free treatment to the people at their doorsteps. He said that the treatment of kidney disease is very expensive for the poor people who live all the time. It is very difficult for old patients suffering from kidney disease and it is very difficult to get treatment. He said that the institution of SIUT was in Karachi and Sukkur today but now there is such an institution in Larkana.
They have provided free healthcare despite having no money. He said that about 6,000 kidney transplants have been performed at SIUT now that instead of going to India, they can get the patients from Larkana so there is a need for such institutions in every district now like there is free open heart surgery in Larkana.
He said that through the Public Private Partnership with Child Life Foundation, we have established Centers in Sindh. According to the dreams of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, facilities will be provided in every district and region of Sindh.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that Dr Adeeb Rizvi could not come here today but not only at SIUT but in every health sector of Sindh Dr. Adeeb Rizvi is guiding us today. Dr. Adeeb Rizvi, who is also the founder of SIUT, has been instrumental in delivering the 8-bed SIUT hospital to 1800 beds. He said that most chief ministers have problems in raising funds, but whenever Dr. Adeeb Rizvi came to me and we did all possible support for him at SIUT, we would have to visit the SIUT every time for the day before the PPP government. He said SIUT’s grant has been extended because this model has been running for over 50 years, in 1995 the first transplant was made by Dr. Adeb Rizvi.
He claimed that Dr. Adeeb Rizvi treats everyone from Pakistan to the youngest child to aged patients as a family member. He said that all the dialysis centers of Sindh would be brought under the purview of the SIUT where they would provide whatever facilities were required at the provincial level. He said that in all hospitals of the province and in Gambat, there is more standard treatment than all of Pakistan. “At NICVD, we have 9 satellite and 22 Chester hospitals, including Child Life Care Centers operating in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana, aimed at controlling the infant mortality rate,” he added.
Has regulated a lot from all over the world and saved many lives due to NICVD, CM said. He said that in hospitals we are suffering due to lack of staff and trained people but now funds will be released for training as maximum trained people can provide better facilities in hospitals. He said that efforts are being made to provide more health facilities in the divisional headquarters and that the shortage of machines will be met. “The block of surgery is ready at Gambat and Jinnah Hospital.
We want the chairman to visit,” he said. He said that the priority of the Sindh government was to include the health sector at not only the major cities but also the small towns in the corona epidemic and today we have given sufficient control to the corona if no one has got the vaccine he/she should get. “Even vaccines make the lives of ourselves and our families safe”, CM Shah added.
Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pachao, said that Dr. Rizvi dedicated his life to nephrology and urology, his services will always be remembered which not only worked hard but created a team to continue its efforts. She said that Dr. Adeeb Rizvi trained many people to set foot on the institution and today they are doing the same thing as Dr. Adeb Rizvi does. Later Bilawal also participated in the Diwali celebration held at Dharamshalla. He congratulated the Hindu community on their festival.
